THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI team that probed the Kaviyoor rape-and-suicide case of15-year-old Anagha came under the under the scathing criticism of the CBI special judge here on Thursday over the further investigation report it filed in the court a month ago.

Judge R Reghu ciriticised the investigation agency while considering the report. He observed that the report was full of anomalies and SP Nandakumaran Nair, who prepared the report, would have to answer for them.

The report was earlier dismissed by former CBI special judge T S P Moosath twice for lack of scientific backing for its findings. The CBI reportedly submitted the report again on June 12 without much change.

The judge observed that there was no scientific backing for the finding that Anagha was raped by her father Narayanan Namboothiri before her death. The court expressed curiosity on howthe CBI team came to the conclusion that no other men had visited Anagha during the last three days of her life. The judge even asked if the CBI had posted policemen on guard outside Anagha's home on these days.

The judge also sought to know why the CBI did not interrogate three youths, with whom Anagha was alleged to have a close relationship.

Namboothiri (42), priest at Kaviyoor temple, wife Sobha (35), daughters Anagha, Akhila (8) and son Akshay (5) were found dead at their rented residence in Kaviyoor on September 28, 2004.
